I. Purpose
The BT Washington Library has developed behavior and circulation guidelines and procedures in order to ensure fair access to information and materials for all patrons.
II. Behavior Expectations
The library follows BTW's BT3: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready
Be Respectful:
- Use kind words, thoughts and actions with yourself, others, and library property.
Be Responsible:
- Return or renew library books when they are due (1 week after checkout).
- Push in your chair and put away supplies before leaving.
Be Ready:
- Come in quietly and sit at your assigned spot.
- Listen to directions and follow them the first time given.
III. Book Borrowing Policies
Students are given the opportunity to check out books each time they visit the library or if sent by teachers with a specific request. Books borrowed must be returned in order to borrow new books. If a book was lost in the previous quarter students may only check out one book until the lost book is found or paid for.

- First grade may borrow one item and take it home.

- Third, fourth, and fifth grade may check out two items and take them home.
- Items may be renewed by placing a bookmark or sticky note in or on the book indicating that the student would like the item renewed.
- Parents may have their own library accounts and come in to borrow additional items.
- Reference materials are for in-school use only.
- Students will be charged the full cost of lost or irreparable items.
- Students may not participate in the fifth grade graduation ceremony until their lost or damaged materials are paid for or replaced.
